Zanzibar /
Historical Stone town tour
Duration: Half day
explore the fusion of Arabian and African cultures and Zanzibar’s history on this half day tour.
The capital of Zanzibar, Stone Town is a city of prominent historical and artistic importance in East Africa.
Through the labyrinth of lively streets, too narrow for cars to pass, you can explore the fusion of Arabian and African cultures, reflected in the 19th century architecture. Given the unique mixture of Arab, Persian, Indian and European design, Stonetown is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
As you wander around the city, your guide will take you on a historical and cultural journey through the old slave market and Anglican Church, the Old Fort, the marketplace, the Sultan’s Palace museum and the Forodhani sea-front gardens.
While the tour is half a day, we recommend that you stay in Stone Town for longer to discover many more magnificent wonders. Forodhani Gardens is definitely worth an evening visit as at night it comes alive with street food vendors grilling today’s catch and lots of local families enjoying the sunset.
